La Bastilla pride themselves to be one of the few (if not the only) speciality coffee estate companies in Nicaragua with a fully integrated supply chain segment at origin, meaning they plant, produce, harvest, process, classify and market/export all of their Rainforest Alliance Certified green coffee beans directly from the farm to their final destination all around the world. The farm is characterised by its micro climates, its shaded trees, and its volcanic soil. This results in very special coffee qualities, with coffee profiles described as very balanced and sweet, with good acidity, body and complex aromas. La Bastilla have established a unique education project, which aims to give unique opportunities to young children and adolescents in the local area. The aim is to offer practical education to youth, that provides a stepping stone platform to change the community.
